Kishalay Foundation has been working sincerely since it’s inception, to engage and empower women, seeking to entitle them with roles significant in the growth of the society as a whole. We strive to improve rural lives, focusing on extremely poverty-stricken and remote areas of Sundarban.
These are extremely difficult times and women, more than men, often are at the receiving end of a potential adversity. They are the victims of mental and physical abuse, all the more now, with everyone confined in their homes. Economic independence, therefore, holds an altogether different meaning for them.
Kishalay Foundation has been constantly focusing towards giving these rural women an opportunity to be self-reliant. A total of 80 teachers have been employed to instruct the little ones in various early education centres of Kishalay Foundation, amongst whom 68 teachers are female. Women, especially in these remote regions, live a marginalized and impoverished existence as they are deprived of educational and other opportunities in the course of leading a severely domesticated life. We, therefore, intend to employ more women in our programs to improve their living conditions as well as bring about a social and more importantly an economic difference in their lives.
We have been focusing on creating specific job opportunities for women in our Agro-based programs and are trying to involve more female resources in our organisation providing them with a firm hold on their livelihoods.
In the early education centres of Kishalay Foundation, we have introduced educational programs for the little ones with a view to improve their cognitive, fine and gross motor skills with a particular focus on the girl child.
Kishalay Foundation has also chosen to take under its wings 20 girls in rural Sundarban who are sponsored for their education and proper nourishment.
