Help to Grow a Greener Sundarban

Our campaign aims to plant 10,000 fruit trees in the Sundarbans to restore the greenery devastated by recent storms, improve living conditions, and combat malnutrition. The Sundarbans, home to the largest contiguous mangrove forest in the world, acts as a natural barrier against cyclones, protecting coastal communities from severe storm impacts. However, the region’s mangroves have been rapidly disappearing due to climate change and the recent Cyclone Amphan, which left behind significant ecological damage and disrupted the lives of local residents.

Kishalay Foundation, led by Sundarbans native and IIM Bangalore alumnus Biplab Das, has been dedicated to promoting education and health in rural Bengal since 2013. We currently operate 35 early education centers in the Sundarbans, and have been actively involved in relief efforts post-Amphan and the COVID-19 pandemic. Now, we aim to plant 25,000 fruit-bearing trees to restore the greenery lost to the cyclone, enhance ecological balance, and support the local economy.

Our plantation activities will be centered around 35 communities across various islands in the Sundarbans, such as Kochukhali, Chotomollakhali, Satjelia, Dhamakhali, and others. Planting these trees will not only replenish the lost green cover but also provide essential nutrition to the local population, mitigating hunger and malnutrition. Additionally, the trees will help prevent soil erosion, provide shelter to wildlife, and uplift the economic conditions of the communities.

Join us in our mission to rebuild and sustain the Sundarbans by contributing to our plantation program. Your support will help create a greener, more resilient environment for future generations.
