Every child has the right to education. It’s not a privilege but a birthright. Education is the only medium which can eradicate the social and economic impediments and provide a healthy and sustainable society. However, it is also something that often seems out of the reach of a particular section of the society. Be it impoverishment or ignorance, lack of educational opportunities is an alarming factor in rural India.
Kishalay Foundation started off its journey with early education to cater to the underprivileged children of Sundarban. These children, mostly belonging to farming families, have been given the opportunity of attending early education centres of Kishalay Foundation. They get access to pre-school learning activities with a holistic education through well-trained teachers, local to these areas. This learning process also includes sports, story-telling and other activities with our unique pedagogy that enhance and hone one’s mind and body. These children are also provided with nutritious meals, grown organically in our own farms. We have now extended our operations in three other districts in West Bengal namely North 24 Parganas, Murshidabad and Purulia with 100 plus strong team spread across 30 locations. We have recently started our Learning hub at Jharkhand as well.
With a view to improving their living conditions and empowering them with economic independence, our child care program entails an overall development of the child. With these initiatives in mind, we strive to build an eco-system where all children, irrespective of their background, gets equal opportunity and a stepping stone to success in life.
