Kishalay Foundation and Young Indians Collaborate to Develop Model Villages in the Sundarbans

In a significant step toward uplifting rural communities, Kishalay Foundation signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) in 2023 with the Young Indians (Yi) Kolkata chapter. This partnership is dedicated to transforming the lives of underprivileged populations in the Sundarbans, West Bengal, through the development of five model villages: Godkhali, Ramkrishnapur, Ramgopalpur, Mokamberia, and Kamardanga.

The Sundarbans, known for its unique biodiversity, is also home to some of the most marginalized communities in the region, facing challenges such as lack of access to healthcare, limited educational resources, and vulnerability to climate change. Through this collaboration, Kishalay Foundation and Yi aim to address these challenges and create sustainable, self-reliant communities.

Young Indians (Yi) is a movement that empowers Indian youth to lead, co-create, and influence the nation’s future. As an integral part of the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII), a non-government, not-for-profit organization, Yi plays a proactive role in India’s development process. Yi’s “Rural Initiative” program focuses on enhancing the lives of rural communities through sustainable and scalable interventions, making the partnership with Kishalay Foundation a natural fit.
